What’s new with v32 for Sage 50?

A quick overview of what’s New in Sage 50 Accounts v32 – Smarter Automation, AI Insights, and Streamlined Workflows

Sage 50 Accounts is one of the longest standing trusted accounts packages for small and medium sized businesses. The latest release, v32, takes Sage 50 a step forward through new AI features, automation tools, and smarter document handling – managing your finances has never been easier.

In this article, we’ll breakdown what’s new in Version 32, and how these changes can speed up your processes, reduce manual entry, and give a deeper insight into your business performance.

1. Meet Sage Copilot, the new AI Accounting Assistant

The main addition to v32 is Sage Copilot, Sage’s AI assistant built directly into Sage 50 accounts. Copilot exists as your personal helper, committed to streamlining tasks, and allowing you to get more out of your data.

With Copilot, you can:

  • Generate custom reports from text prompts. All you need to do is ask; for example, “Show me my top 10 customers by revenue this quarter” – Copilot will generate this instantly. The more precise the prompt, the more accurate and detailed the report will be.
  • Get automatic performance summaries. After running a report such as a P+L or balance sheet, Copilot will then give you an analysis of different trends and anomalies. This can help you understand what is happening and why it’s happening.
  • Access key data faster. No more running long searches through convoluted filters, Copilot can give you exactly what you’re after straight away.

This is Sage’s largest foray into the AI space so far, taking what they initially implemented in v31 and building on it massively. .

As you can see in the screenshot, Copilot has flagged numerous potential errors and anomalies and categorised them appropriately.

2. AI Document Capture (formerly Purchase Automation)

What Sage previously offered through the “Purchase automation tool”, has evolved into “AI document capture”. Documents can now be uploaded and matched across more areas of Sage 50, including:

  • Customer activity
  • Bank payments and receipts
  • Cash register transactions
  • Batch invoices and credits

Through the use of AI, Sage 50 can now read and process more document types automatically, reducing data entry and creating a fully documented paper trail for everything that gets uploaded.

3. Expanded Document Attachment Support

Version 32 extends document attachment capabilities throughout the system. You can now attach files and images directly to more transaction types than ever before, ensuring that receipts, invoices, and other evidence are always stored alongside the relevant record.

This greatly helps when carrying out audits and bank reconciliations – everything you need is in one place.

4. Refined Interface and Connectivity Enhancements

Sage has overhauled the interface for the “Manage cloud connections” screen, making it much easier to view and control the connected services. This also removes older, less secure, integrations such as OAuth for Gmail – aligning Sage 50 with the best data protection practices.

5. Performance, Security, and Bug fixes

As with all new Sage releases, the latest version includes a good number of improvements to speed, data integrity and general bug fixes. The full list of these can be found at the bottom of the release notes linked below:

What’s New in v32.1

Shortly after v32.0, Sage released v32.1, which builds on these improvements with more Copilot functionality and enhanced debt-management tools:

  • Automated Payment Reminders – Copilot now helps you follow up on overdue invoices automatically.
  • Enhanced Copilot Onboarding – clearer prompts, setup guides, and icons showing where Copilot is available.
  • Sage Assistant – an integrated help tool providing real-time support 24/7.
  • File Locking for Copilot Debt Management – prevents multiple users from editing the same record simultaneously.
