FAQs
What’s included in the 30-day trial?
The trial would match what you would expect when you become a paying customer. So what you trial is the same as what you will pay for.
The only trial limitation is that we only allow a maximum of 8 users. You can purchase more than 8 users after the trial has ended.
Can this replace Sage Remote Data Access?
Yes. RDA relies on syncing your company file between your PC and Sage’s servers, which is where issues like stuck “processing” messages, failed transfers and locked files come from. With 50 in the Cloud, there’s no syncing step. Your data lives on our servers and everyone accesses the same live file directly, so those sync problems don’t arise.
Why do I need to host my software?
Hosting your software allows you to access your software, which would usually only be accessible from your office PC, from anywhere in the world, on any device.
Hosting your software allows you to use your desktop software on the devices you choose. Sage 50 Accounts on an iPad? Hosting makes that possible.
Need to quickly check if you sent an invoice while you’re on holiday? Hosting makes that possible.
Is the trial genuinely free?
Yes. You won’t pay anything to try 50 in the Cloud for 30 days.
Are payment details required?
No, we don’t require any card or payment details for your trial. At the end of your trial, we will send you a link to sign up for a paid subscription if you wish to continue.
Does it automatically become a paid subscription?
No, before your trial ends, we will reach out to see whether you wish to continue. If you do, we will send you a link to subscribe to our paid subscription
How long does setup take? Is migration included?
As soon as we’ve confirmed your requirements, we get started right away. Migration is fully assisted. Our team handles moving your Sage 50 data across rather than leaving you to do it yourself.
The one thing outside our control is your internet upload speed, which can affect how long larger datasets take to transfer, but our support team keeps the process as quick and painless as possible.
What support is included?
Yes, you will receive full support from our UK-based technical team, Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30.
Software updates are fully managed; just raise a ticket, and we’ll take care of it, so you’re not relying on your own IT resource to keep things running.
Can I access the cloud server from more than one place
Of course! With the surge in working from home and hybrid working, 50 In The Cloud can help you adapt seamlessly, without wasting precious minutes logging off, logging on, saving work and plugging in cables every day.
With 50 In The Cloud, you can simply disconnect at the office, and then reconnect at home, leaving all your work, documents and draft invoices open on your screen, right where you left them.
How do I do software updates?
As 50 In The Cloud is a fully managed solution, we take the headache of updating your software out of your hands.
All you need to do is drop us a ticket to let us know you want to update, and then sit back and get on with your work; we’ll handle the rest.
Where is my data stored?
All your data hosted with 50 In The Cloud in stored in UK based data-centres. The same goes for your backups too.
All the data-centres we use are ISO27001 certified and are audited annually, meaning you can rest easy knowing your data is in the right hands.
Do I need to use the latest version of Sage?
No, we can help you host many different versions of Sage 50 Accounts, including those no longer officially supported by Sage (if needed for archiving purposes for example) and we can also help you move to a newer version if you’re having trouble.
What’s the difference between hosting my software, and using Sage Drive?
Sage Drive still requires you to install Sage 50 Accounts, and all it’s supporting software, on your machine and any other machine you want to access it on. With one our of cloud servers, you just need one link to access everything.
Sage Drive can also regularly become de-synchronised from the host, leading to data not pulling through from one machine to the next, whether this is because of connectivity issues or because a machine is turned off. With 50 in the Cloud, all your data is accessed by everyone, in the same place, meaning when your colleague posts a transaction, you’ll see it right away.
Ultimately Sage Drive still falls back to a single point of failure, which isn’t what you want in an always connected world. 50 In The Cloud makes sure you and your colleagues are always on the same page.
Will there be any downtime?
Our servers run on a 99.5% uptime guarantee. If a server ever does run into an issue, automatic hardware rollover means a backup server takes over. In most cases, you won’t even notice.
There will be about a 2-hour downtime period when transitioning from your free trial server to the server used for your subscription. Our support team will contact you to arrange a morning or afternoon that is most convenient for you.
Can I purchase a Sage licence through you?
No, we don’t supply Sage licences. If you don’t currently have a Sage 50 licence, you will have to purchase one through Sage yourself.
Where is my data stored? How are backups handled?
All data is hosted in UK-based, ISO 27001-certified data centres, independently audited every year.
Backups run on a two-pronged approach: point-in-time recovery for reverting a file quickly, plus full off-site recovery backups that run daily, with shadow backups every 6 hours in between.
What happens to my data if I don’t continue?
If you don’t continue with a paid subscription, we will ensure that a backup of your data has been taken. You can either do this yourself, or we can assist you. Once we have confirmed you have your data backed up, we will decommission the server and delete your data.
Do I need to upgrade my computer?
Part of the beauty of hosted solutions is that all the processing is done on the server side, almost all modern devices with an internet connection are capable of accessing our hosted servers, from iPads to 2-in-1s, from desktops to laptops.
Hosting your software allows you to forget the stress of upgrading your PC when it slows down, because all of your work is done on a cloud system that we can keep running great for you.
But what about backups?
With regards to backups, we’ve got you covered. Backups with 50 In The Cloud are a two-pronged approach:
With point in time recovery for when you need to revert a document or file back to a later point right away or with full off-site recovery backups that run daily
We can also help you configure a local network share, allowing you to carry out a backup from Sage 50 on our server, directly to your own off-cloud PC or storage media should you desire.
Is this available only to businesses in the UK, Ireland and Malta?
Yes — we only work with businesses across the UK, Ireland and Malta. Hosting always takes place in our UK-based, ISO 27001-certified data centres, regardless of where your business is based.
Versions of the Sage 50 from the US, Europe, South Africa, etc although they may share branding, are different products and are not a service we offer.
Can I keep my existing Sage 50 licence and data?
Yes. Your existing Sage 50 Accounts, Payroll, and Office licences and data are hosted as is. You’re not moving to different software or using a different data set; you’re just accessing the same software and data from our servers.
We can also host older versions of Sage 50, including ones no longer officially supported, if you need that for archiving or aren’t ready to upgrade yet.
Is there a minimum and maximum number of users applied to the trial?
There is no minimum on the trial; however, when transitioning to a paid subscription, we require a minimum purchase of 3 users.
We also set a maximum of 8 users on a trial to preserve the performance of the trial server.
